‘Glorified Terrorism’ — France Bans Return of Osama Bin Laden’s Son

The fourth son of al-Qaeda terrorist leader Osama bin Laden will not return to France, his interior minister announced Thursday.

Omar bin Laden was expelled from his Normandy village last year after being accused of glorifying terrorism on social media.

BBC report The 43-year-old makes a living painting landscapes and currently lives in Qatar.

But new Interior Minister Bruno Letailot said he had signed an order banning him from returning to France last year after he made social media posts that “glorified terrorism.”

Following the posting, bin Laden had his two-year residence permit revoked by authorities and left France. French media reported that the controversy was related to the commemoration of the anniversary of his father's death.

He has been living in France since 2016 and obtained a residence permit through his marriage to British national Zaina Mohammed Al Sabah (real name Jane Felix Brown).

Bin Laden, born in Saudi Arabia, left his father in 2000 after training in a jihadist camp in Afghanistan.

Le Tailraud's decision was made during a meeting with 21 governors, each responsible for a different French department, to discuss immigration issues.

The talks will focus more specifically on how to deal more effectively with a legal measure known as the “French Territorial Exit Obligation” (OQTF), which is primarily used to deport foreign nationals.
