Former Republican mayoral candidate Curtis Sliwa on Wednesday released footage of the violent assault of former New York Gov. David Paterson (D) and his 20-year-old son-in-law in Manhattan over the weekend.

“The kids didn't start the fight,” Patterson said. “They were arguing, and when the fight started, everyone joined in.”
Patterson was reportedly punched “in the face several times” and in the shoulder.
“The person who hit me in the shoulder threw me at the McDonald's window,” Patterson said.
In a post on X, Sliwa shared a video of the assault and thanked those who wished her son well.
“I'm tired of seeing two adults who attacked a legally blind 20-year-old and a 70-year-old maintain their innocence!!!” If the former governor can't even protect himself from violence, no one is safe No,” he said.
Police initially let the two juveniles rest after the assault, but eventually arrested two other adults believed to be responsible for the attack.
