Blade-wielding creep busted trying to kidnap baby in Queens: cops

A creepy knife-wielding man was arrested this week in Queens after allegedly trying to kidnap a 2-year-old girl, yelling at the girl's mother: “Give me back my baby or I'll stab you!” This was announced by authorities and related parties.

Police and sources say Peter Vonderhoven, 32, approached a 31-year-old woman on a bicycle while brandishing a knife around 3 p.m. Thursday, barked disturbing threats, and then shot her to a car park in South Richmond Hill. from the area near Atlantic Avenue and 109th Street.

The mother and child were not harmed, and police arrested Vonderhoven about 30 minutes later.

After being taken into custody, investigators linked the suspect to two armed robberies that took place less than 24 hours apart at the same intersection last week, police and officials said.

According to authorities, Vonderhoven allegedly approached a 44-year-old woman at 9:45 p.m. on October 2, snatched her purse at knifepoint, and stole the items inside.

According to police, the next day at around 8:35 p.m., the underling approached the 49-year-old man from behind, put his hands on the victim, and stole his cell phone while displaying a knife.

Police said both robberies occurred at the same location.

Vonderhoven was later charged with first-degree robbery in each incident.

He is also charged with attempted second-degree kidnapping, third-degree criminal possession of a weapon, endangering a child under 17, and second-degree menacing.
