Cowboys stadium foods are so good, even opposing fans like them

Dallas Cowboys fans can try a new combination of sweet and salty, the Fritos Sunday, at Sunday's home game against the Detroit Lions.

This most unexpected dessert combines two Texas favorites: Fritos, invented in San Antonio, and Blue Bell ice cream.

Two are topped with cinnamon and sugar, drizzled with caramel and chocolate syrup, and finished with sprinkles and a maraschino cherry.

“Each year, we always try to find unique items and keep our food fun,” George Wasai, Vice President of Food and Beverage at Legend Hospitality, said in a Zoom interview with FOX News Digital. spoke. (See the video at the top of this article.)

Legends Hospitality carries benefits for many teams, including the Dallas Cowboys.

Fritos Sundae was born out of a discussion about what snack foods could be combined into a new discounted product.

“At first, everyone thought I was crazy, including my team,” Wasai said. “They thought I was crazy for wanting to do something like that – until we worked together and tried it.”

After the first Fritos Sunday gathering, attitudes started to change, he said.

Wasai said, “I realized how wonderful desserts are.''

Heather Fuller, concession chef at the Cowboys' AT&T Stadium, agreed.

“They work very well together, which is a very good thing.”

“Actually, everyone loves it. I haven't really heard anyone give me negative feedback about it,” she said in a joint Zoom interview.

She said she understands that “a lot of people are a little apprehensive” about trying a dessert that combines corn chips and ice cream, but insisted it's worth a try.

“They work really well together, which is a really good thing,” she said.

But for those who want to stick to the tried-and-true classics, there's the Cowboy's Cheesesteak and the Lineman Burrito.

It spits out images of cheesesteaks, Fritos sundaes, and burritos with barbecue.

Wasai told FOX News Digital that the Cowboy's Cheesesteak is the best-selling sandwich at AT&T Stadium and has been for more than 25 years.

“We wanted to create our own Philadelphia cheesesteak style with Texas ingredients,” Wasai said.

Fuller said Cowboys' cheesesteaks feature shaved sirloin “seasoned with our special seasonings.”

The sirloin is topped with “natural jalapeno jack cheese'' along with onions and jalapenos.

Wasai said the Cowboys' cheesesteaks are so good that even visiting Philadelphia Eagles fans agree they are delicious.

“They just rave about it,” he says.

“We'll go in and talk. [Eagles fans] We use real cheese,” Fuller said with a laugh.

Fuller said Lineman Burrito debuted last season and has become a customer favorite ever since.

Combining two of Texas' most famous cuisines, Tex-Mex and barbecue, the Lineman Burrito is not for the faint of heart.

“This is a 17-inch tortilla. [with] Our famous Cowboys Mac and Cheese, house-smoked brisket, jalapeño pepper jack sausage, pico de gallo, house-made candied jalapeños, and barbecue sauce,” Fuller said.

The product is then wrapped and baked.

The idea for the burrito came about after a vendor “brought out some tortillas” and suggested they could use them to make some sort of jumbo-sized burrito.

“And I started thinking,” Fuller said. “We like to think outside the box and be very innovative.”

That innovation led to the idea of ​​a “barbecue burrito,” which evolved into the Lineman Burrito.

The Texas-sized burritos are meant to be shared, she said.
