From Olympic medals to wedding rings.
American sprinter Noah Lyles announced his engagement to fellow Olympian Jenelle Bromfield on Sunday, sharing a video of Saturday's dreamy proposal on social media.
The clip is captioned, “To my future wife, I will love you forever,” and Lyles, a two-time Olympian who won two medals at this summer's Paris Games, appears in front of Bromfield. She can be seen kneeling down on one knee and displaying a heart-shaped flower. The attached message was “Will you marry me?”
Bromfield, a Jamaican track and field star, kissed Lyles after accepting his proposal and before showing off her engagement ring.
“I'm engaged,” she exclaimed in another video as she celebrated with her loved ones.
Lyles, 27, and Bromfield, 26, have been dating since 2022 after dating for several years.
Their engagement took place a few months after the pair competed in the Paris 2024 Games.
Lyles won gold in the men's 100 meters and bronze in the men's 200 meters, but his Olympic participation was cut short due to the coronavirus pandemic.
Bromfield won bronze in the women's 4x400m at the 2021 Tokyo Games, but failed to win a medal at the Paris Games.
Lyles publicly supported Blomfield during the tournament, calling Bromfield a “survivor” who fights “pure contempt and hatred for Bromfield from his home country.”
“This woman has been attacked by people she has never met, never heard her name, never seen her smile, never believed in, never heard of. She continues to move forward, believing that God will make a way for her. That's why God continues to bless her!” Lyles posted on Instagram In August.
Lyles did not elaborate on the alleged backlash, but comments on the Track World News podcast suggested the sprinter knew certain information. According to Us Weekly.
Blomfield acknowledged Lyles' message and replied, “Thank you for always supporting me long before we started dating.”
A few weeks after the Olympics, Lyles and Bromfield Enjoyed a “vacation” in paradise and Participated in New York Fashion Week.
