Landon Knack gave Dodgers no chance

The hero, Zero, and the Full Blitz of Monday's Mets-Dodgers Game 2 victory:

hero

Mark Vientos used intentional walking as inspiration.

Seeing as the Dodgers intentionally put Francisco Lindor on first base, the third baseman hit a grand slam that gave the Mets all the points they needed.

zero

Ryan Brazier ended the Dodgers' shutout streak, but Landon Knack ended most of their hopes of stealing a game.

The big relief pitcher the Dodgers had hoped for lasted only two innings, giving up five runs, including a grand slam by Vientos.

The unsung hero

Phil Mayton, Ryne Stanek and Edwin Diaz (right) worked together for four scoreless innings, each recovering from injuries and each picking themselves up on their own.

status

Dodgers batters one through five were at bat, totaling 0-for-19.

Sean Manaea and the Mets' bullpen either threw L.A.'s best hitters around (five group walks) or through them (nine strikeouts).

quotation
