Mark Cuban: Business leaders worried about Trump 'retribution' or 'vengeance'

Billionaire investor Mark Cuban said Monday that business leaders are no longer criticizing Republican candidates in public because they fear “retaliation” and “vengeance” from former President Trump. He said he was thinking about it.

In an interview on MSNBC's “The Rachel Maddow Show,” the “Shark Tank” star outlined why he said business leaders should support Vice President Harris over Trump. The MSNBC host also said Trump spent part of his first term “targeting companies for what he saw as political gain” and that Trump was “radioactive” in the business world. I also agreed with Mr. Maddow that it should be done.

“Well, you don't hear a lot about CEOs other than Elon Musk, especially of big companies, coming out and supporting him, and that's exactly why,” Cuban told Maddow.

“I don't hear them criticizing him because they're worried about his retaliation and revenge, but literally no one I know who supported him other than Elon has supported him. ” he continued.

Mr. Cuban, who is now a surrogate for the Harris campaign, made the case for the Democratic nominee, saying President Trump lacks stability and is difficult to manage when running a business.

“So there's no good reason to vote for Donald Trump as a business candidate. In business, whether you're a small business or a large corporation, you want stability. As CEO of John Deere You don’t want to wake up one morning and suddenly find out there’s a 200% tariff on you,” Cuban said.

“You don't want to be an employee of an airline and find out that you're blackmailing someone if you transfer them. Decisions like this take years to plan and put together. For small businesses, stability is the first rule. And for small businesses, they just want opportunity,” he added.

The Hill has reached out to the Trump campaign.

Mr. Trump has consistently outperformed Ms. Harris in polls that ask voters which candidate they trust more to manage the economy.

In a recent Gallup poll, 54% of respondents said President Trump would do a better job of handling the economy. Additionally, 52% said the economy was “very important” in deciding which candidate to support on election day.
