Justin Fields’ days are numbered

fantasy football is a competitive game, so what you see one week may not be seen the next.

This is something that most casual fantasy managers fail to understand and end up making some serious mistakes when setting up their waiver wire claims for the following week.

What we witnessed last week at the quarterback position is a perfect example of that, so if you're looking for a new gunslinger, be careful which player you choose.

Patriots fans were filled with excitement after the future of the Patriots, Drake Maye, made his starting debut against the Texans last week. Although his team lost 41-21, May finished the afternoon with 243 passing yards, three touchdowns, and a 60.6 percent completion rate. He also ran the ball five times for 38 yards, adding a rushing element that fantasy managers covet.

The Patriots will face the defensively challenged Jaguars next week, and many are sprinting to the waiver wire to add him, but that could be a mistake. Or, as Admiral Akbar once declared, “It's a trap!”

The Jaguars aren't a good team. we know that. But it's important to remember that he's still a rookie quarterback preparing to face NFL-level defenses, and he threw two interceptions and lost a fumble last week. But the worst thing for him and the rest of the Patriots is having to travel across the pond to play in England for Week 7.

While Caleb Williams doesn't seem to have any negative effects from the trip, there are still some concerns for New England. First and foremost, the Patriots aren't a very good team and Maye isn't as polished as Williams. May also lacks a veteran weapon to help him. His weapon is as green as he is.

There's also the fact that there will be no trip to Jacksonville this time. They're spending an entire week in London and won't suffer from a long flight, subsequent jet lag, and a complete disruption to their normal schedule. The Patriots are experiencing all of this for the first time and will struggle.

Another potential pitfall is investing in Justin Fields. Two rushing touchdowns may have saved him a dream day, but with a healthy Russell Wilson lurking, Fields' longevity as a starter won't be long.

The Steelers' passing attack is weak, with a success rate of over 60% in each of the past two games. Neither Mike Tomlin nor Arthur Smith will last much longer, and Week 7 against the Jets could be the moment we see Wilson take over.

Do you want to bet on the NFL?

What you see in the NFL can change in the blink of an eye, so stay tuned. Just ask the Broncos, who were on a three-game winning streak but missed the game against the Chargers.

May and Fields have fantasy appeal, but investing in them is extremely risky. Don't waste your free agent bidding funds on them.
