Apple's latest version of the iPad Mini will be released on October 23rd with technology to perform artificial intelligence (AI) functions.
The tech giant touted the new tablet on Tuesday, announcing the device as offering “incredible value and the full iPad experience in an ultra-portable design.”
Apple says the next iPad Mini will have a starting price of $499. Pre-orders for the device are already open ahead of its launch next week.

Apple has equipped the iPad Mini with the A17 Pro chip, enabling it to run Apple Intelligence and other new features, the company said. iPadOS 18 will also be installed.

Using a software update, the tech giant plans to bring initial AI features to the U.S. later this month, including writing, Siri, and photo cleanup.
Apple said more features will be added “in the coming months.” Also includes the ability to create images, custom emojis, and utilize ChatGPT.

Apple has also increased the base level of storage offered by the iPad Mini to 128GB, double the previous model.
According to the company, it will be equipped with a 12MP wide back camera and a 12MP ultra-wide front camera with Smart HDR 4.
Apple has also added compatibility with Apple Pencil Pro.

The tech giant last released a new iPad Mini model about three years ago. The first version of the tablet appeared in 2012.

Apple adds AI capabilities to iPhone and other products
The company's iPad division generated $19.74 billion in net sales in the first three quarters of this year. That's nearly 7% of the $296.1 billion in net sales Apple generated for the entire nine-month period.

The announcement of the latest iPad Mini models comes about a month after Apple announced its iPhone 16 slate, which includes the iPhone 16, iPhone 16 Plus, iPhone 16 Pro, and iPhone 16 Pro Max.
