Former President Donald Trump has a clear 5-point lead over Vice President Kamala Harris in North Carolina, according to a Rasmussen Reports/American Thinker poll.
This study is a collaboration between Pulse Opinion Research and published Tuesday's poll found that 51% of likely voters support Mr. Trump and 46% support Ms. Harris. It was the first time since September, when they led the Tar Heel State 49% to 46%, that they expanded their lead by two points.
Mr. Trump has a significant advantage among male voters, 56% to 42%, but Ms. Harris has only a slight advantage among female voters, 51% to 47%. Additionally, the former president won 26 percent of black voters. Other minorities support Mr. Trump over Ms. Harris, at a rate of nearly 3 in 5.
“Voters are deeply concerned about the current state of America and believe that Trump is the right candidate to address the issues,” Andrea Widberg, editor-in-chief of American Thinker, said in a statement released by Rasmussen Reports. “There is,” he said.
The survey also assessed what North Carolina voters believe is the biggest issue in this presidential election. 33% said the economy was the most pressing issue. Another 17% chose border security and 12% chose abortion.
The poll sampled 1,042 likely voters in North Carolina from Oct. 9 to 14 and had a margin of error of plus or minus 3 percentage points.
North Carolina is the only battleground state that President Trump won in both 2020 and 2016, and includes two other battleground states, Georgia and Pennsylvania, making it Trump's easiest path to the White House. It is the core component of Combined with these three states and the states Trump is expected to win, he will receive exactly 270 electoral votes, ensuring him a second term.
North Carolina is also a potential cornerstone of a secondary pathway. North Carolina, Georgia, Arizona, and either Michigan or Wisconsin would give Trump an advantage without Pennsylvania, but Trump has additional avenues, some of which Breitbart News detailed this on Monday.
