Texas suspect gets pummeled by employees at pizza restaurant after robbery attempt

A Texas pizzeria employee took justice into his own hands when a man tried to rob the restaurant last week.

According to FOX 7 Austin, the suspect, Richard Curtis, 19, was charged with aggravated robbery. The suspect allegedly entered Marco's Pizza in Austin on Thursday around 7 p.m. and approached an employee.

FOX 7 reported that Curtis slipped a note to the worker that read, “Don't say st, just empty the drawer.” The man then told the employee he had a gun in his waistband, according to the affidavit.

A quick-thinking employee grabbed the suspect and strangled him, and his co-workers called the police.

During the struggle between the employee and Curtis, a manager at Marco's Pizza removed the gun from Curtis' waistband, according to FOX 7.

The manager said he tried to shoot Curtis, but he did not fire.

Seeing that the gun was not working, the manager struck Mr. Curtis with the handle of the gun.

At one point, the manager grabbed a knife from the kitchen and asked Curtis if he preferred prison or the death penalty, according to FOX 7. Curtis stopped fighting and waited for law enforcement to arrest him.

FOX 7 reported that one employee was injured in the incident and was later treated for a head wound.

Authorities are actively investigating this incident. No additional details available at this time.
