Travis Kelsey's ex-girlfriend Kayla Nicole thought she gracefully answered questions about her personal life during a recent interview on Angel Reese's podcast until she got a call from her mother.
During Tuesday's installment, “I Am Athlete Daily” programthe influencer recalled that her mother was upset about the negative backlash on social media when she discussed the Chiefs tight end and her personal life.
“I thought I handled things gracefully. I thought I answered the questions to the best of my ability,” Nicole said through tears. “People had their own interpretations of things, but it didn’t matter to me.
“But my mom calls, and it's those conversations…that's what's important to me, because she's offended. She's hurt by how people see her daughter. She is hurt by the negative headlines and the way people are reporting.
“And even my mom used to say, 'Maybe next time I won't answer a question like that,' and it's as simple as that. Don't give it energy. Don't necessarily respond to a question like that.” No. I've been using that soapbox for a long time. I don't necessarily have to respond.”
Nicole dated the Chiefs star on and off from 2017 to 2022 and became close friends with Brittany Mahomes, the wife of Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes.
The 32-year-old model, who has millions of social media followers, came into the spotlight last summer when Kelsey began dating Taylor Swift.
During a recent appearance on Reese's podcast Unappologetically Angel, Nicole explained that she is dealing with the online hate due to Kelce's “situation” and that she has done nothing to warrant such backlash. .
“I'm currently going through a master class on the power of your words and the influence of the media,” she said on the “I Am Athlete Daily” show.
Nicole said she wants to learn from former NFL stars Brandon Marshall and Martellus Bennett, who appeared on the segment. That's because they are veterans in the field as former professional athletes, and Bennett went on to become a director.
