After scoring the game-tying touchdown in the Tigers' eventual 29-26 win over Ole Miss on Saturday, an LSU male cheerleader appeared to interfere, setting the internet abuzz.
With less than two minutes left in the game and LSU leading 23-16, Tigers tight end Mason Taylor evaded Ole Miss defender Trey Washington and brought it home at Tiger Stadium to tie the game. I caught up.
After Taylor reached the end zone, a male cheerleader wearing an LSU uniform jacket was seen extending his arms and trying to push Washington away as he crashed to the sideline.
The cheerleaders may have gotten too excited while celebrating LSU's dramatic moment against the Rebels.
It's also possible that the cheerleader had her arms outstretched to protect herself as Washington ran full speed in her direction.
The internet was still active in trending moments about X.
“Put that guy at linebacker. Textbook tackle” 1 person I wrote.
“What should I have done by making the player take his knee out? LOL.” another said.
“LOL. Protect yourself from getting hurt,” someone said. I wrote.
Others said he was protective of his fellow cheerleaders while playing.
LSU won in overtime.
The Tigers (5-1) will play the Razorbacks (4-2) at Arkansas on Saturday, while Ole Miss (5-2) will host the Oklahoma Sooners (4-2) on Oct. 26. There is one week grace period until the arrival.
