‘Jeopardy!’ fans slam Ken Jennings for questionable ‘illegible’ ruling

What is “clutter”?

On Wednesday night's episode of “Jeopardy!,” fans of the game show called out host Ken Jennings for questionable rulings.

While a contestant named Rishabh was determined to continue his winning streak, other 'Danger!' players put up a good fight in the heated game show.

The episode ended with “Final Jeopardy!” In the round, players faced a category called “College Town.”

Jennings read, “Two schools in the Southeastern Conference are located in cities in different states with the same name.”

Rishabh, an Illinois native and current sophomore at the University of Pennsylvania, competed against environmental attorney Jay Eversman and associate professor Rachel Cassidy.

Two contestants, Rishabh and Rachel, both answered correctly to “What is Colombia?” Rishabh bet $9,801 and took home $20,201 with his two-day win.

However, fans of the game show were quick to criticize Jennings' ruling, claiming that the winner's answers were “completely unreadable.”

Rishabh's written answer, “Colombia,” appeared to some as just a jumble of letters. The original answer he had written down was also scrawled.

On the other hand, Rachel's answer to “Columbia” was easy to read on screen.

“You can probably read two of Ken Jennings' letters. That poor woman got robbed!” one viewer wrote on X (formerly Twitter).

“No, I don't know if it said 'Columbia' or not. But I don't know if that's good enough for Ken,” one comment on Reddit read.

Another fan wrote: “My verdict was that his reaction was indecipherable. Apparently my verdict has little impact.”

“It's spelled 'Cdumlaq,'” a viewer chimed in.

“I honestly think it influenced Ken's decision that he said, 'I wrote Columbia,' before the answer was clear. “I don't know if that was important,'' one person said, “but did Ken have to reveal it himself?'' I read the comments.

“Yeah, that's a bit of a crazy call…just my opinion!” Viewers agreed.

Passionate “Danger!'' Fans also suggested that game shows should introduce keyboards instead of forcing players to write their answers.

“Gone are the days when contestants had FJ keyboards.”

Meanwhile, “Danger! The answer has sparked heated debate among viewers.

Recently, there was a judgment that caused viewers to be furious over incorrect answers.

Mark Fitzpatrick, five-day “Jeopardy!” champion, picked an $800 tip from the “Just Doin' My Job” category.

The prompt read, “I know how to properly use propofol. I can count to 16 (work character). I can tell people to count backwards from 100.”

While Jennings searched for the correct answer: “anesthetist”, contestant Eamon Campbell seemed confused about how to pronounce the word.

“An anatomist?” Campbell answered.

Jennings gave the contestant another chance, but kept stumbling over the correct pronunciation of words.

“Anesthesiologist?” he mispronounced again.

Once again, “Danger!” contestant Dot White answered, “What is an anesthesiologist?” while saying the correct pronunciation of the word, and Jennings accepted the correct answer.

Fans were quick to react to the questionable verdict on the defiant prompt.

“Jeopardy and Ken Jennings go on another rant…screw Eamonn's answer 'anesthetist'…unbelievable!!” one comment read.
