Butterball Makes Thanksgiving Cooking Whole Lot Easier. But What Will Traditionalists Think?

Butterball, the largest turkey company in the United States, recently launched a frozen bird that allows you to eat cold turkey in just a few hours of thawing the Thanksgiving classic.

The company's new “Cook from Frozen” turkey requires just two steps before it's plated. That means opening the package and cooking it in the oven. CNN Reported.

How to thaw a turkey is one of the most common questions asked through Butterball's Turkey Talk-Line, according to a company press release. So Butterball has launched a new product that removes the neck and giblets to create a cleaner, gentler turkey cooking process, the newspaper reported.

CNN reports that a “specially formulated” brine will keep the meat moist during the five-hour roast. No need to pound, salt or season.

Neil Saunders, Retail Analyst and Managing Director of GlobalData Retail, urges people to start hosting Thanksgiving without extra hands because 'Frozen Cook' turkeys are easy to prepare He told CNN that it's possible. (Related: 450 major convenience stores to close)

“This product appears to solve many of those problems, making it particularly appealing to younger consumers who may be hosting Thanksgiving for the first time,” Sanders continued. “We also focus on convenience, which is important for all consumer groups on very busy days.”

Butterball's new turkeys cannot be stuffed, the outlet reported, as doing so “poses a food safety risk.” The company recommends making the filling separately.

Harris Teeter, grocery store chains including Publix, and select Walmart and Kroger stores will carry the product. The birds will also be available at other Butterball-owned chains, including Fry's and Ralph's, according to CNN.
