CNN senior political data reporter Harry Enten said Friday on “News Central” that Vice President Kamala Harris' campaign has “stagnated,” while former President Donald Trump's “It's becoming more popular,” he said.
Enten said, “If you believe that Donald Trump's popularity has somehow declined over time, let me change your mind. In fact, at this point in the campaign, he has and more popular than at this point in the 2016 campaign.”
He added, “There's a real question in Kamala Harris' head and in the campaign's head about why Trump is more popular now than he was at this point in 2020 or 2016.'' I think there's a question. And I think that's why the offense is getting sharper because they're trying to bring him back.”
He added, “Kamala Harris is more popular than Donald Trump, but Kamala Harris has become more popular since becoming the presumptive Democratic nominee.” Look, she was -15 points on July 17th, -4 points on August 17th, and 1 point plus 1 point in September. In fact, she was in positive territory a month ago. However, she fell to -1. Kamala Harris' momentum has stalled. ”
Enten concluded that “Joe Biden was much more popular than Trump and narrowly won, while Hillary Clinton was more popular than Donald Trump but lost.” Being more popular than Trump isn't enough. ”
