of buffalo bills welcome tennessee titans Week 7 sees two teams going in opposite directions. The Titans are now 1-4 with their only win against the struggling Dolphins. The Bills ended their two-game losing streak and are now 4-2, leading the AFC East.
The Bills will return James Cook to the lineup after a strong performance by running back Ray Davis in Week 6 against the New York Jets. Cook missed the win against the Jets with a toe injury, but Davis took his place. He led the Bills' offense with 97 yards rushing and catching three passes for 55 yards.
However, Davis injured his calf in practice and will be limited to Thursday and Friday. He now has a questionable tag heading into Sunday's game. Cook, on the other hand, participated fully in practice the last two days of the week but was removed from the final injury report.
James Cook's starting/seating advice
Cook fell down in the overall fantasy rankings, but was ninth in average fantasy points this season. He's gotten off to a strong start each week and will definitely start this weekend against the Titans. ESPN projects him RB13 this week, FantasyPros has him as RB19 their consensus ranking.
The biggest concern going forward is how much work Davis will get after his strong performance in Week 6. As for this week, even though he's been active, the calf injury isn't much of a concern. In Week 6, Davis is a very solid RB2 with significant upside over RB1.
Ray Davies' advice on how to start/sit
The Bills vs. Titans kicks off at 1 p.m. ET, so we'll know soon if Davis is available. With the return of James Cook, Davis will drop significantly in the standings. ESPN projects him As RB62 FantasyPros consensus ranks him As RB44.
If Davis is active, you should probably avoid playing him unless you're really desperate at the position. There are upsides to him, but there are also big downsides to having Cook back in the lineup. It's best for you to sit him out this week while you wait to see what kind of workload he can get more consistently.
