A 5-year-old Texas girl accidentally killed herself with a gun she found in her home, authorities said.
Harris County Sheriff's Office deputies responded Saturday night to the 8400 block of Parasol Lane, near North Houston Road in Fairbanks, where a girl had unintentionally shot herself, according to Sheriff Ed Gonzalez. He said he knew it was a possibility.
The boy was taken to the hospital by ambulance and underwent surgery. She is expected to survive.

The girl's stepfather, Jason Nguyen, 33, was arrested on suspicion of being a felon in possession of a weapon and possessing a controlled substance. He was booked into the Harris County Jail.
The sheriff said there were other children and adults in the home at the time of the incident.

Nguyen has been convicted of multiple felonies and was sent to prison in 2014 for being a felon in possession of a weapon, according to court records. fox 26.

In August of this year, Nguyen was arrested and charged again with being a felon in possession of a weapon.
Records show he was out on bond and wasn't paying bail when his stepdaughter shot herself.
