Mets fans watch team lose to Dodgers in NLCS during watch party at Citi Field

It breaks your heart because you invest so much in the team throughout the season, through good times and bad,” Long Island resident Walter Nilsson, 60, said Sunday. “Then, when the playoffs started and the Subway Series was announced, things got really exciting. It hurt even more that the Yankees were able to advance to the Final Series and we couldn't.

“But that's what being a Mets fan is all about. Getting back up the next year and believing this is what it's all about.”

The team hosted a viewing party for Game 6 of the National League CS, in which the Mets played an away game against the Dodgers, at their home base in Queens.

“Listen, the better team is going to the World Series. Hats off to Los Angeles,” said Luis Adames, 42, of Washington Heights. “But hats off to the Mets.
