NY judge killed in crash while riding on back of motorcycle: cops

A Long Island judge was killed Sunday night in a motorcycle accident in Yaphank, according to local police.

Suffolk County Police say Nassau Supreme Court Justice Dawn Jimenez Salta, 60, was riding in the back seat of a 2007 Harley-Davidson when she collided with a car on the Long Island Expressway just after 5:30 p.m. did.


Judge Dawn Jimenez Salta died in a motorcycle accident late Sunday afternoon.

Police said the motorcycle collided with a Lexus near Exit 68, and the car crashed into an Audi.

The driver of the Harley, Frederick Fisher, 65, of Bay Shore, was taken to Stony Brook University Hospital with serious injuries.

Jimenez Salta was taken to Long Island Community Hospital in Patchogue, but did not survive.

No other injuries were reported from the collision.

Jimenez Salta was born and raised in Brooklyn and first began his career in Kings County Housing Court in 1999.
