‘How Is This Real?’ WNBA Mocked After Video Shows Horrific Play in Finals Game

It's probably a good thing that most people stopped watching the WNBA after Caitlin Clark was eliminated in the first round of the playoffs. Since then, the level of play in the league has been abysmal.

On Sunday night, the WNBA season ended with the New York Liberty winning a series against the Minnesota Lynx. That's the headline reported in most media outlets. What hasn't been reported almost anywhere is that the WNBA's two best teams produced a nearly minute-long clip of some of the worst basketball you've ever seen. This is just one clip.

Check it out if you dare:

As mentioned in the video, New York's Sabrina Ionescu is one of the best players in the WNBA. She was known as a disciple of the late Kobe Bryant. What is her stat line for Game 5? The final championship game for all the marbles?! Ionescu finished the game with 5 points on 1-19 field goals including 1-10 from 3-point range.

In fact, her 0-12 start reached a historic milestone in futility.

“Sabrina Ionescu went 0-12 from the field, the longest consecutive miss in a winner-take-all game in WNBA history (via @ESPNStatsinfo),” ESPN's WNBA reporter Alexa Philippou wrote.

Many regular readers of this site don't need this evidence, but those looking for evidence of media bias against Caitlin Clark need look no further. If Clark had performed anywhere near the level Iones did Sunday night — even in a regular-season game — it would have been front-page news everywhere. One of the league's better players and a member of Team USA (remember, the team Caitlin Clark was told wasn't good enough to play?) receives virtually no media coverage. The fact that they did this is pretty incriminating on the news organizations that report on it. This sport.

The terrible display of gunfire caused much ridicule at X.

The WNBA is hoping Caitlin Clark doesn't decide to join the new women's professional basketball league, Unrivaled. After being reminded of how inferior their product would be without her, it's clear who needs who more.
