Who would have imagined that pizza would turn out like this? this Is it addictive?
German police raided a pizza shop after learning that its most popular pizza was served with cocaine.
An unidentified pizza shop in Düsseldorf first called the police after a suspicious food inspector noticed that special item number 40 on the menu had been crossed out.
“That was one of the best-selling pizzas,” Detective Chief Michael Graf von Moltke told reporters, without disclosing what the special price on Coke was.
Food inspectors first reported the suspicious order in March, and when officers confronted the pizzeria's 36-year-old manager, he threw a bag of drugs out of an apartment window, causing the police to say, It fell into my arms.” the police said.
Police said the stash contained 3.5 pounds of cocaine, 14.1 ounces of marijuana and $290,378 in cash.
Police said the pizza shop manager was released a few days later, only to reopen the slice shop and begin selling No. 40 again, with additional orders of cocaine.
Investigators then investigated the supply chain and ultimately busted the entire drug ring in western Germany, arresting three suspects, including the 22-year-old suspected ringleader of the operation.
Authorities also searched the homes and businesses of 12 suspects and discovered two marijuana farms with more than 350 plants.
Their search uncovered cash and expensive watches, as well as knives and other weapons.
The pizza shop owner attempted to flee the country, but was arrested and remains in custody.
Due to Germany's strict privacy rules, he, the other suspects and the pizzeria were not identified.
