Browns star Myles Garrett sticks up for embattled Deshaun Watson after QB’s season-ending injury

The Cleveland Browns' disappointing season took another hit Sunday with the loss of starting quarterback Deshaun Watson to a season-ending injury.

Some fans appeared to directly boo Watson after he went down with an Achilles tendon injury in the first half of a game against the Cincinnati Bengals. After the game, several of Watson's teammates, including star pass rusher Myles Garrett, came to the quarterback's defense and criticized the fans' actions.

“As Browns and as fans, we should be ashamed to boo anyone and bring them down. It could be a season-altering, career-altering injury. This guy is perfect. Not,” Garrett said.

“He doesn't have to. No one is expected to be perfect. You can't judge his actions off the field and on the field because you can't throw a stone from a glass house.”

Off the field, Watson faces 24 lawsuits from women accusing him of sexual misconduct. He settled more than 20 of those lawsuits.

“No one deserves it” Garrett said. “I've seen him try so hard to come back here and put a smile on his face and forget about everything outside of the facility. The death threats, the death threats, [people] Please come to his house. People chasing after his family. Like I said, no one deserves it. I hate using the word “deserving.” I always consistently say “I earned it.” He hadn't earned it and wasn't entitled to it.

“Human beings do almost everything right. They are model citizens through college and play in the pros. They play the game harder than anyone I've ever seen. They put everything on the line and He's willing to put his body on the line. He plays the game at the highest level, at 160 miles per hour, which also puts him at risk for injury. He took that risk. We have to be there for him as a team and as an organization. You can't look down on a player because of a mistake on the field. We have no moral standing to look down on this guy, even off the field. ”
