Election officials in Maricopa County, Arizona, the fourth most populous county in the United States, appear to be planning to take their time counting votes in the 2024 election.
Meanwhile, in other parts of the country,
western worldelection results are often tabulated within hours of polls closing, said Maricopa County Deputy Director of Elections Jennifer Liewer. shown He said at a news conference Tuesday that vote counting could take nearly two weeks.
“We ask for the community's patience as we anticipate that it will take 10 to 13 days to complete the counting of all ballots received,” Liewer said. “We want to make sure this is a safe process, but we also want to make sure it's an accurate process.”
The county is expected to cast more than 2.1 million votes this year, with more than 400,000 already cast.
“We are being deceived.”
This year's ballots are longer than usual, with an average of 79 contests per vote, and the large number of votes, spanning two pages, is expected to slow down the counting process.
Additionally, Liewer noted that the county expects the two-page ballot to cause confusion when processing early votes.
Some voters may return pages one and two. Some voters may only return the first or second page. In either scenario, it's easy to continue working. However, some voters may have their partner, husband or wife return the first or second page twice. The problem arises because the early voting process does not know which ballot is associated with that voter.
Election officials suggested these factors could lead to longer waits for results as well as longer lines on Election Day.
“If there's one message for the voters here today, it's that voting hours and interest in this 2024 general election are getting longer and more interesting. There will be long lines on some days, but that's OK.” “But if you want to save time and avoid the lines of voting early in person or by mail, it will save you time and help you report more results on election night.” Masu.”
Liewer said the county plans to hire more staff to process ballots, add night shifts and take other steps to ensure the counting process goes “as smoothly as possible.”
The possibility of Arizona counties delaying elections by more than a week seemed unwelcome to some critics.
Blaze TV host steve deace “We no longer know the extent of the fraud,” he told Blaze News Tonight. “To be fair to Maricopa County, Mr. Trump is much further along than he was the last two times he ran. “We are conducting public opinion polls, so there is clearly no wrongdoing.” I don't know how many votes I'll need — oh, sorry —

Maricopa County Supervisor Bill Gates was on the defensive.
write“Our system is not broken. @maricopacounty is counting ballots faster than ever and at the same pace as every other state. Arizona law dictates when ballots should be counted. It's about the process. More importantly, it's about accuracy and security.'' It's overspeed every time. ”
Laurie Roberts of the Arizona Republic
branded Conspiracy theorists are concerned about delays, and Maricopa County has historically been behind, with two-week delays in 2012 and 2018 and a 17-day delay in 2008, so it's a big deal. This suggests that this was not the case.
Roberts added that Arizona law allows early ballots to be dropped off at polling places until after polls close on Election Day, but prohibits them from being counted on Election Night.
Unlike Maricopa County, Allegheny County, Pennsylvania, is trying to reverse the trend of delayed results. KDKA-TV
reported In the 2020 election, it took several days to count votes in Allegheny County, but this time officials say they hope to announce results by midnight on Election Day.
