Harris wins Colorado

Vice President Harris won Colorado, securing another victory in the safe blue state.

Harris was expected to win 10 electoral votes from the Centennial states. The state has elected a Democratic president since former President Barack Obama in 2008, but before that the state had elected a Republican since 1968, which was interrupted in 1992 when former President Clinton won.

The vice president won the state despite former President Trump visiting the state in October to promote immigration, a top campaign issue. He helped the former president gain attention by holding rallies in Aurora, a city of about 400,000 people, and spreading the word about Venezuelan gang activity there.

State and local officials, including Aurora's Republican mayor, have denied claims that the city is overrun with immigrants, but President Trump told an audience of thousands that the Biden administration's immigration policies are He claimed that he was allowing the city to be overrun by the government.

President Biden won Colorado in 2020 with more than 55% of the vote, while Trump received nearly 42%.

In 2016, the gap narrowed further, with former Democratic candidate Hillary Clinton winning more than 47% of the vote in the state and Trump winning more than 44%. When President Obama flipped the state blue in 2008, he won with about 54% of the vote, while the late Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.) got about 45%.
