President-elect Donald Trump recalled the assassination attempt on him this summer and claimed God saved him for a reason on those fateful days.
“A lot of people said God saved my life for a reason,” Trump declared in his victory speech early Wednesday morning. “The reason is to save our country and make America great again, and now we're going to fulfill that mission together. We're going to make it happen.”
“The task before us is not easy, but I will put all the energy, spirit and fight that is in my soul into the task entrusted to me.”
President Trump also pledged to work to end bitter divisions in the country.

“It's time to forget the divisions of the past four years. It's time to come together, and we're going to try,” he said. “We have to try and it will happen. Success unites us.”
