‘We Got Beat’: Van Jones Tells Dems To ‘Take A Breath’ And Stop Pinning Harris’ Loss Solely On ‘Sexism,’ ‘Racism’

CNN's Van Jones on Thursday urged Democrats not to blame Vice President Kamala Harris' loss to President-elect Donald Trump solely on “racism” and “sexism.”

Mr. Trump secured his electoral victory over Ms. Harris early Wednesday, buoyed by growing support from Hispanic and black men. Jones argued on CNN News Central that bias played a role in Harris' defeat, but also said Democratic failures and the Trump campaign's “innovations” were also important factors. “I think Democrats need to take a breather here. It's very easy to say it's race, it's gender. Yes, there are those factors, but there are other factors as well. We did not build that media communications infrastructure,” Jones said. “Just like Trump caught us off guard by being on Twitter when we didn't understand Twitter, he did the same thing to us on his podcast. We continues to lag behind Trump's innovation team. They have engineers, they have entrepreneurs. They think differently about politics.”

Trump had received about 73 million votes, or about 51% of the total, as of Thursday morning. According to To the Associated Press.

“We're too homogeneous in that we've got a bunch of lawyers, we've got a bunch of government officials trying to think through this issue. We lost. That's what happened. Now, people Is there speciesism? Absolutely. Sexism — but the focus there is an opportunity for innovation on our part and, frankly, an opportunity to respect what the other side has accomplished. You will miss out,” he added. “They beat us. We have to sit back, eat Wheaties, learn, and come back in two years and deal with it.”

Harry Enten, CNN Senior Data Reporter noticed On Wednesday, Trump announced that he is the only Republican presidential candidate who has “supported Latino men” since 1972. The president-elect also received 21% support from black male voters nationwide, an increase of 2 percentage points from his 2020 results. According to to Reuters.

Radio host Charlamagne Tha God also argued Wednesday that it's unfair to blame Trump's victory over Harris on bias, saying economic factors and safety played a more important role in the outcome. He suggested that he accomplished it. But Democratic strategist James Carville said Wednesday that Harris' loss was due to President Joe Biden's withdrawal from the race “in late July,” the vice president's failure to distinguish himself from Biden, and “anarchy.” He claimed that it was due to his feelings.

Trump also won 57% of the vote in Starr County, Texas, which is 97% Hispanic and has voted Democratic since 1896. According to to the New York Post.
