We Don’t Know How to Talk to ‘Normal People,’ We’re ‘Not the Party of Common Sense’

Democratic strategist and CNN contributor Julie Roginski said Thursday on CNN's “Newsroom” that her party can't talk to “ordinary people” and that her party is “not the party of common sense.” said.

“You know, I'm going to tell my Democratic friends the hard truth: This isn't Joe Biden's fault. It's not Kamala Harris' fault. It's not Barack Obama's fault,” Roginski said. It's the Democratic Party's fault that we didn't know how to communicate effectively to voters. I don't know how to speak to Latinos, and language, and language has meaning. We speak to Latino voters, for example. Being politically correct makes them think we don't even live on the same planet as them. When we're too scared to say, “Hey, college kids, some kind of policy. If you're destroying Columbia's campus because you're not happy about it, you're taking over the university and destroying it.''And you're trying to help other students learn that that's not acceptable.'' Prevent. But we don't know what to say because we're so worried about alienating someone in the coalition. ”

she continued. “If the average person were to look at this and say, 'Wait a minute, I'm sending my kids to college so they can learn, and I'm not going to burn buildings or trash my lawn. When you say “she” with a pronoun after her name, you say, “Hey, if I call you by the wrong pronoun, please call me, I'm sorry, I won't do it again.” Don't say it, just stop it. Make virtue signals and talk to people like normal. There's nothing I wouldn't say to Shermichael, nothing I wouldn't say to you, nothing I wouldn't say to anyone else. I speak the same language to everyone. But that's not the case with the Democratic Party. We're always trying to parse out different ways of speaking to different groups because focus groups and polls show that it appeals to so-and-so people. Ordinary people don't think so. That's not common sense. And we need to start being the party of common sense again. ”

“Joe Biden is not responsible for that, and neither is Kamala Harris. This is a problem that Democrats have had for years. I don't know how they've been beating the drum on this, but maybe… 10 years, maybe more. We want people to see us and appreciate what you say because we understand you and speak our language. We need to get back to being a party of common sense, and until we do that, we should stop blaming others for our mistakes.”
