Florida men's basketball coach Todd Golden released his first statement Friday since it was revealed he was under Title IX investigation.
Golden is accused of sexual exploitation, harassment, and stalking of “an unspecified number of women.” As first reported by Alligatorthe school's independent newspaper.
Golden remained silent on Friday, but made his first public statement on Saturday, which he shared on his personal X account.
“Over the past month, I have actively participated in the ongoing school investigation and respected confidentiality,” he wrote. “I recently engaged Ken Turkel to advise me on my ability to bring defamation claims while this confidential investigation is ongoing. My family and I are grateful for the support we have received thus far. We are confident that the university will continue its efforts to complete the review as soon as possible.”
The university reportedly received the Title IX complaint on September 27, according to the Alligator, which alleges that he sexually assaulted students and former students via Instagram while on academic business travel last year. They include allegations that he requested entertainment and sent photos and videos of his genitals.
One former student claimed that Golden stalked her and received unsolicited photos of his genitals.
Golden, 39, is married with two children.
“To comply with federal law, the university cannot comment on or confirm any Title IX inquiries, complaints or investigations,” said Florida State spokeswoman Cynthia Roldan Hernandez. told USA Today in a statement Friday.

Golden took over the Florida basketball program before the 2022-23 season after three years as San Francisco's head coach.
He signed a six-year, $18 million contract with the Gators and ultimately received a raise before this season. On3.com reported.
