Jackie Johnson III hit a buzzer-beating floater in a 57-56 loss to Seton Hall on Saturday at visiting Fordham in South Orange, New Jersey.
Johnson scored a game-high 18 points, and his last-second shot past a defender was upheld after review.
Will Richardson added 11 points for Fordham (1-1), which bounced back from a 32-point loss to St. John's, another Big East team.
Yasin Tumi made a perfect 5-of-5 shooting for Seton Hall (1-1) and fouled out in the final three minutes to score a team-high 12 points.
With Seton Hall struggling on 2-of-13 shooting, Prince Aligbe made a driving layup out of a timeout to give the Pirates a 55-52 lead, and Seton Hall's Chance Jenkins scored with 22 seconds left. Added one free throw.
Aligbe was whistled for a shooting foul after Richardson took a 3-pointer, but replays showed he did not touch the defender or interfere with his landing spot. Richardson made all three foul shots, resulting in a one-point game.
Seton Hall had the ball in, but with 11 seconds left, Aljibe's pass to the baseline hit Dylan Ade-Owusu's fingertips and went wide.
Fordham called a timeout and pulled out the winning play.
Aligbe had 10 points and seven rebounds for the Pirates, who outscored the Rams 40.7 percent to 36.5 percent.
Toumi's six points gave Seton Hall a 14-7 lead, but Fordham kept it within five points for the remainder of the first half.
Richardson made his second 3-pointer of the day at 3:38, but Seton Hall picked up the pace and Addai Ousu hit a 3-pointer of his own nine seconds later to make it four points. regained the advantage.
