One person was killed Saturday night after what Tuskegee Police Chief Patrick Mardis said was “some idiots starting shooting guns” during Tuskegee University's homecoming.
AL.com noticed Tuskegee University, an HBCU, was celebrating its 100th homecoming when the gunshots rang out. The person who was shot was “not affiliated with the university.”
The campus was so crowded with attendees watching the Tuskegee University-Miles University game that “there were so many people that emergency vehicles couldn't get in,” Mardis said.
of new york post reported“Approximately 47,300 people filled Alumni Stadium, which has an official capacity of 10,000, for the university's homecoming football game.”
One person was killed and numerous participants were injured in the shooting. Police do not know how many shooters there were, and no arrests had been made as of Sunday morning.
