Chet Holmgren absorbs scary fall in Thunder loss to Warriors

Chet Holmgren left the Oklahoma City vs. Golden State Warriors game early after falling hard onto the court while trying to contest a layup by Andrew Wiggins.

Holmgren did not return to the game, and the Thunder announced he missed the remainder of Sunday's 127-116 loss due to a right hip injury.

Holmgren was clearly seen falling hard on his right hip, and the Thunder big man was lying under the basket, clearly in pain.

No foul was called on that play.

The trainers came out on the floor right away. He was unable to put weight on his right foot to assess Holmgren and was ultimately helped off the court.

Fans gave Holmgren a standing ovation while he left the floor, and Holmgren was taken directly to the Thunder's locker room.

Thunder coach Mark Daigneault did not have an update on Holmgren's status after the game. ESPN reported.

He finished the game with four rebounds and shot 0-for-3 from the field.

Holmgren entered Sunday night's game averaging 18.2 points, 9.2 rebounds and 2.9 blocks for the Thunder.

The 22-year-old was the runner-up for NBA Rookie of the Year last season and was the No. 2 overall pick in the 2022 NBA Draft.

The Thunder's loss on Sunday was the second loss of the young NBA season, and the focus shifts to the Clippers, who host Oklahoma City on Monday.
