USAA CEO Wayne Peacock talks about the transition from military to civilian life and the skills veterans bring to the workforce.
This Veterans Day comes as the country prepares for change in January for the inauguration of President-elect Donald Trump, but the message to those who have served our country remains the same.
“At 11 a.m. Eastern Time on Veterans Day, we're inviting you to reach out to the veterans in your network, whether it's by phone or in person. Build that community. is extremely important,” said USAA CEO Wayne Peacock. he told FOX Business.

USAA, a major financial services company serving 13.5 million U.S. military personnel and veterans, will also be offering awards of up to $1 million in November.

Peacock named Home Depot as one of the largest companies that employs more than 35,000 veterans, according to the company. Home Depot co-founder Bernie Marcus, who died last week at age 95, has donated more than $250 million from his Marcus Foundation to veterans' causes through 2024, making him the largest single veterans donor. He is one of the biggest among them.

In an interview with FOX Business before the election, Peacock had the following message for the incoming White House administration:
“I think the message to the next administration is to continue to invest in our great military, and do we invest in the weapons and tools for tomorrow's fights or do we invest in our people?” said. “And we will solve challenges, especially for non-commissioned officers, food insecurity, child care, housing, and make it easier for people to serve and protect our country,” he added. .
The challenges facing many Americans, such as inflation and rising costs of housing and child care, may be even more acute for veterans.

Veteran homelessness is another crisis the government is addressing. Last month, the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs announced it had found housing for more than 47,925 veterans. The department noted that this is the highest number of veterans incarcerated in a single year since 2019.
