President-elect Trump announced Tuesday that he has nominated real estate executive Stephen Witkoff to be the next administration's special envoy for the Middle East.
“Steve is a well-respected leader in business and philanthropy who has made every project and community he has worked on stronger and more prosperous,” he said of Witkoff Group's chairman, CEO and founder. He’s a person,” he said. “Steve will be a tireless advocate for peace and make us all proud.”
Witkoff will serve as co-chair of President Trump's inaugural committee, along with former Sen. Kelly Loeffler (R-Ga.), the president-elect's campaign said. Trump also said he was playing golf with Witkoff and other friends during his second apparent assassination attempt in September.
The real estate executive and Trump are also reportedly participating in recent cryptocurrency projects along with their sons.
Witkoff has previously praised President Trump's dealings with Israel, saying in July that “his leadership has been good for Israel and the entire region.”
