Country music star Darius Rucker has donated nearly $3,000 to the East Tennessee State Buccaneers' name, image, and likeness (NIL) fund after attending a football game that he deemed “awkward.” .
Rucker's famous song “Wagon Wheel” is a national staple, especially with versions of the song played at ETSU games.
The reason is that Mr. Rucker mentioned Johnson City, a university in Tennessee.

Rucker was seen at a game against Western Carolina on November 9, and it was announced that he would sing after the third quarter.
But when Rucker came onto the field, he stepped outside and waved to the crowd as the song played over the stadium's speakers.
