Caitlin Clark Hits the Fairway with LPGA Pro-Am Appearance

With the WNBA's offseason in full swing, Rookie of the Year Caitlin Clark has set her sights on professional golf, joining two pros at this year's LPGA Pro-Am at Pelican Golf Club.

Although Clark insists he is just an “average golfer,” golf Fox News reported that he met with current and former women's golf professionals in Newport Beach, California today.

The Indiana Fever star is scheduled to tee off on the front nine early Wednesday morning with this year's top women's player Nelly Korda, then finish on the back nine with recently retired pro Annika Sorenstam.

“I've been trying to practice as much as I can,” the WNBA star said. “I'm just an average golfer. I'm going to hit something good. I'm going to hit something bad. I'm going to try not to hit anyone who's standing outside the rope. But it's going to be fun.”

Clark joked that he might take up professional golf if the Fever were eliminated from this year's WNBA Finals.

“I've been trying to get as much time as possible to practice, but my hopes are limited. I'm just crossing my fingers and praying,” she explained. “No, I just practiced a little bit and heard the word that I was going to be a professional golfer. Everyone thought I was serious. I wasn't serious. I love it. I went out and made friends. I love competing.”

“It’s going to be challenging, but coming out here and doing my best and having a good time is what I’m looking forward to,” she said of her short tour on the LPGA.
