Van Jones, a CNN contributor and former Obama adviser, said Wednesday on CNN's “Newsroom” that he was “very impressed” by President-elect Donald Trump's choice of Fox News host Pete Hegseth to be the next Secretary of Defense. It's concerning.”
Jones said: “Look, he looks great, but he sounds terrible. If it ain't broke, I don't think we need to fix it.” There is a fiction that there is something wrong with America's military. What problem are you trying to solve? We have the most lethal, most respected, and most feared military in the history of the world. There isn't even a number 2. So the idea that there's something wrong with our military, that our generals are terrible, is fiction. So when you try to solve a problem that doesn't exist with the world's best forces, you actually create a problem. ”
She added, “I don't think there's any data or evidence that shows the military is worse off with women being involved in it. Where's the evidence of this? This is all fiction and it's very scary. I don't think there's any evidence that shows the military is worse off with women being involved in it. I don't think anyone can defend, this is not someone, I mean, this is a FOX News host who was formerly in the military. If that's the standard we're going to adopt going forward, that's very worrying. I think that's what you should do.
