14-Year-Old’s Powerful Rendition of ‘God Only Knows’ Wows Judges on ‘The Voice’

Fortson was originally on Reba McEntire's team. On Monday, Bublé brought him into the team.

“I stole Jaukim because when I was a kid, people saw my potential and loved me enough to give me a chance,” Bublé said. “And I’m so happy to be able to do that with Jaukim.”

Snoop Dogg was also impressed, saying on NBC that it felt like he had gone to church.

“We need to see more black kids like this,” Snoop said. “At first, when I came out, I represented the wrong side of our appearance. I want to give credit to your parents, grandparents, and everyone who raised you the right way. “This is what young black people are like.'' Kids look like that. ”

During pre-show warm-ups, Fortson said the song gave him a new perspective on life.

“God really does know, and I know that God can work miracles if you just let Him step into your life,” Fortson said. “This song is about if you're in a difficult situation or struggling with something, God meets you where you are. McIntyre cried as Fortson sang during warm-ups.

“When I see my son walking up to the microphone with that beautiful smile and knocking his socks off, I'm like, oh my god, who doesn't love this kid,” she said.

Jennifer Hudson, who advised Team Reba, was also impressed.

“Jaukim sings from experience,” Hudson said. “If he makes the audience feel what he feels, the same way he made us feel, then he's on track. You've got an instrument. , young people.”
