A Maryland mother with a newborn daughter died two days after being thrown from a golf cart near a members-only golf course over the weekend, authorities said.
Mary Beth Blasetti, 32, was riding with another woman Saturday in Maid Marion Hill when her golf cart crashed into a bump and the woman was ejected from the car, police said. According to WJZ News.
The new mother was airlifted to hospital where she succumbed to her injuries on Monday.
An investigation into the crash has begun, but the Anne Arundel County Sheriff's Office said it appears to be an accident.
“This is an extremely tragic and unfortunate situation,” department spokesperson Justin Mulcahy said, according to the agency.
“Our hearts go out to all the victims. We will continue our investigation with the State Attorney's Office to determine exactly what happened here.”
Ms. Blasetti is remembered as a caring wife and mother of a 2-month-old daughter. She and her husband recently purchased their first home together in Annapolis.
“Mary Beth brought joy to so many people and there was a wide community of friends and family devastated by her sudden death,” friends wrote in a GoFundMe post.
“She was a devoted wife, mother, daughter, sister and friend. Her absence will be deeply felt by all who knew her.”
A fundraiser for her grieving family had raised more than $276,000 as of Wednesday night.
