Things didn't end well for Gwen Stefani and her husband Gavin Rossdale when they split in 2015, leading to rumors that he was cheating on her with his nanny.
But things are different now.
Happily married to country crooner Blake Shelton, Stefani is looking back on her past through new music.
The No Doubt singer appears to be targeting Rossdale with her fifth solo album, but says she is trying to protect her three children, who live with her, even as she reveals the truth. .

Stephanie said she was raised by parents who set a “perfect example of love.”
“They met when they were 15, fell in love, and had us.” [children]. And they made us feel like we were everything to them,” she told People magazine.. “And then when you start a family, it's the other way around, you break up. I didn't know what to do, how to protect my kids. And I'm still working on that. .”
Stefani and her sons Kingston, 18, Zuma, 16, and Apollo, 10, who live with Rossdale, announced the news ahead of the release of their mother's very personal new album. “I know what's going on in my family and in my life,” he said. “bouquet.”

The album, which will be released on November 15th, includes the previously released song “Somebody Else.” The poignant lyrics seem to depict a dark and toxic relationship that she was able to escape.
“You belong to someone else/And it doesn’t even break my heart/You belong to someone else/And I pray for them, whoever they are/Every day with you I'm at rock bottom/Leave me as you saved me, my God/Here, let me bloom/You're someone else's problem.

Stefani explained that while she is sensitive to her children's feelings, she also cares about her fans and the authenticity they deserve in her music.
“I get a song. Do I sit in the studio and work on it? I do. But where does it come from? Where does the inspiration come from? Where do these words come from? They do come. They are given to me, but they are given to me,” she said.
“So I feel like it's my responsibility to share that, whether I have kids or not. It's a gift to me to share with people. And I'm sure certain songs don't mean the same thing. They're going to have a different experience through this song because there's no one in my head or in my heart or in my soul like they are for someone else. ”

A year after their divorce, Stefani gave insight into what it was like to break up with Rossdale.
“That was the beginning of hell. It was like six, seven, eight months of torture trying to figure out this big secret,” she told Harper's Bazaar. She wanted to “tell everyone” what was going on, but said nothing, mostly to her children.
“Ever since I was little, all I wanted was to get married and have the kind of love that I watched my parents have and have children,” Stefani told People magazine. “That dream was completely ruined and shattered. And I had to figure out how to move forward and create a new dream. And then God put Blake in my life. It was truly a miracle.”

She and Shelton connected on the reality show “The Voice.” They got married in 2021 after a long relationship.
