Connor McDavid makes NHL history with 1,000th point

Connor McDavid could add another NHL milestone to his resume.

The Oilers superstar scored less than three minutes into the second period against the Predators on Thursday night, scoring his 1,000th career point.

Not only did he reach an impressive personal milestone, he did it at record-setting speed.

With this goal, McDavid became the fourth fastest player to reach 1,000 points in 659 games.

This made him the fourth youngest player to achieve this milestone at 27 years and 306 days.

After the Predators gave away the puck, Darnell Nurse immediately hoisted it to Leon Draisaitl, who carried it into the offensive zone and set up McDavid for a one-time puck.

McDavid became the 999th player in NHL history to reach the 1,000-point plateau.

Only legends Wayne Gretzky, Mario Lemieux and Mike Bossy reached the goal faster.

The Oilers star has lived up to the hype that was touted when he entered the league as the No. 1 overall pick in the 2015 draft.

“I don't think there's ever been a player like him.” Draisaitl told NHL.com before the milestone.. “I don't think that's the case. [been] In hockey, this is a player who can create something out of nothing. It's sometimes amazing to see him break all these records when he reaches 1,000 games at his age and the small number of games he's played.
