They are trying to expand people's digital (big) footprint.

The Unicode Consortium is ringing in the new year by proposing a trove of new emoji for 2025, including a replica of Bigfoot amid numerous Sasquatch sightings.

Reportedly, the total is 164 new digital hieroglyphsreleased as part of the Emoji 17.0 and Unicode 17.0 betas, includes nine new characters.

There's also a symbol of a distorted bug-eyed face, a ballet dancer performing an arabesque, an apple core, a killer whale, a trombone, a landslide, a treasure chest, and the “fight cloud” emoji popular in manga and anime.

Emoji fans will have to be patient, as the new batch (pictured) won't be released until September 2025 and may undergo some revisions before release. unicode

The new release still needs to be greenlit, but it's still a hot topic among X users who listed their favorite titles online.

“Sasquatch is fire” one commenter exclaimedmeanwhile another person wrote, “Oh, the distorted face will be my most used emoji.” [sic]”

The remaining emojis being considered for Emoji 17.0 will require a sequence of different skin tones for both proposed and existing emojis, Unicode announced.

Emoji fans will have to be patient, as the new batch won't be released until September 2025 and may undergo some revisions before its debut.

“We will have to wait a while before it is officially recommended,” Unicode warns on its site. “Several further reviews of these emoji candidates will be conducted by Unicode between now and September 2025.”

“This means that some of the proposed emojis may not make it to final approval,” they added.

Once expanded, this comic synopsis will be available for use and editing on Google, Apple, Microsoft, Meta, and countless other platforms.
