Vivek Ramaswamy said on FNC's Sunday Morning Futures this week that the soon-to-be-formed Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) will “eliminate” some government agencies.
“For the last 40 years, even as conservatives, we've been talking the big game for 40 years about reducing the federal government, reducing the scope of the federal government. Politicians couldn't do that. So, Elon… And I'm not a politician. We're coming at it from the outside. Sometimes we become natives of the system.”
He added: “I applaud President Trump for making this a success. But I go back to principles. Get quick wins through enforcement in the first few months, show what can be done, and then build on Congress' focus on the future.” I think this will lay the groundwork for meaningful action to be taken to reduce the amount of waste and fraud that currently exists in various entitlement programs. , let's start with the fact that abuse exists. Federal contractors are actually exploiting the federal government. They could get a haircut across the board, and if they did, they wouldn't be that bad. It won't happen.”
Host Maria Bartiromo said, “Are you going to shut down the department?”
Ramaswami said: “We are expecting massive reductions. Certain agencies are expected to be completely eliminated. We expect massive cuts to all federal contractors and others who overcharge the federal government. So, yes, we expect all of the above. I look forward to it.”
