California's girls high school volleyball team has opted to end its season rather than play a team with biological males in the state tournament. On Friday, two days after winning the first round of the state tournament, Stoneridge Christian High School announced it would forfeit its second round game against San Francisco Waldorf, which has a biological male player who identifies as a trans woman. The match was scheduled to be played the next day at the Waldorf.
According to , Stoneridge Christian High School finished the season with a record of 20 wins and 12 losses, placing them in second place in the Southern League with a record of 12 wins and 2 losses. Merced Sunstar.
“At SRC, we believe that God's Word is authoritative and infallible. That's the truth,” Stoneridge Christian administrator Julie Fagundes said in a statement. “And as Genesis makes clear, God amazingly and unchangeably created each person as male or female. We do not believe that gender is changeable. We do not intend to participate in any event that sends a different message. We also have the following duties and responsibilities: “In consideration of the health and safety of our players, and in consultation with our students, coaches, and staff, we have the following obligations and responsibilities: He made the difficult decision to stand for the truth, which meant more than the outcome of the match. ”
Fagundes called it a “heartbreaking end to the season,” but added, “I hope you will join me in celebrating these outstanding student-athletes. SRC is proud of them.” Ta.
That same trans player played on the women's team during the 2023-24 basketball season and caused controversy.
Julie Lane, president of the advocacy group Women Are Real, told Outkick.com that she observed him firsthand and that he had a huge advantage over other basketball players.
“The boy clearly had an advantage,” Lane said. ”[Waldorf] They didn't necessarily carry out the attack through him, probably because they didn't want to be targeted. However, he was able to get the most rebounds and jump much higher than the female players. ”
Other women's basketball teams “were at a complete disadvantage,” Lane added.
