VANCOUVER, British Columbia — In a season where consistency has been difficult to find in the lineup, no player in the Rangers' batting lineup has been picked higher than No. 4.
Despite fielding three different right wingers since the start of the season, Adam Edstrom and Sam Carrick have been consistent in that unit, appearing in all 16 games.
The first five games of the season saw Johnny Brodzinski and Matt Lempe primarily alternate on the right wing, with the former appearing in four of the five games until Jimmy Vesey left with a long-term injury. (Rempe's one game was an outlier). Make your reservations early this month.
Since then, Vesey has skated at that position over the past six games, giving the line a chance to really mesh.
Head coach Peter Laviolette said, “I think it was good.'' “It was good when Johnny was there. [Rempe] There were some good matches. But now we are used to the routine and the line is settled. I think they played really well. In your eyes, they're doing well and their results are going in the right direction, so we try to leave things that are working well alone. ”
According to Natural Stat Trick, in 52 minutes and 48 seconds of ice time, Edstrom, Carrick, and Vesey had two goals for the Rangers and two points for the opponents.
They were evenly matched in scoring attempts, 23-23, and had a 12-7 advantage in dangerous chances.
Laviolette said there was no official update on Philippe Sitil, who was still undergoing further tests by doctors in New York.
The Rangers' road scoring percentage this season is .857, tied for first in the NHL with Vancouver.
Additionally, the Blueshirts lead the league in away goals per game (4.43), goals against per game (1.43) and power play success rate (37.5).
They have three shutouts on the road and have allowed two or fewer runs in six of their seven games.
The Rangers' 18 unique goal scorers are tied for second-most in the NHL.
