Trump naming cabinet officials at ‘warp speed,’ far head of first term pace

President-elect Trump appears to be a politician who is in a hurry to staff key positions in his next second administration.

President Trump has announced roughly 20 Cabinet and other top-level positions in the nearly two weeks since his decisive victory over Vice President Kamala Harris in the 2024 presidential election.

The pace of staffing for the former president and the president-elect is much faster than it was eight years ago after their first White House victory.

And he is proceeding with selection at a faster pace than President Biden after the 2020 presidential election and former President Obama 16 years ago.

One reason for the faster pace is that unlike eight years ago, when Mr. Trump and his aides were relatively new to the process, this time they have more experience. And this time around, Trump enjoys a greater national mandate by winning the electoral college by a landslide and gaining the national vote he was unable to achieve in his 2016 White House victory.

“I think he definitely knows the ropes and in some ways he knows the ropes. He knows who he likes and who he doesn't like. He knows what he wants to achieve. “We know what's going on,” said Matt Mowers, a veteran Republican consultant. The 2020 Republican Congressional candidate in New Hampshire, who worked on the 2016-2017 Trump transition and served in the first Trump administration, told Fox News.

Moers noted that the clock is ticking for President Trump.

“This shows that they realize they have to make an impact from day one because the guarantee period is only four years. choose a policy and actually issue policies at that speed. “That's one of the reasons he's starting to represent that he's doing it — because he has only four years left to guarantee a really fundamental change in direction for the country based on what he campaigned on. They know that,” Moise emphasized.

DeSantis sets date for Rubio's replacement in Senate

Matthew Bartlett, another Republican consultant who also worked at the State Department during President Trump's first term, told Fox News, “The speed of operations is at warp, with President Trump appointing Cabinet members and agency heads in quick succession.'' We are making progress,” he said.

“Part of the reason for that is because he knows exactly who he wants for a second term,” Bartlett said. “And some of that could be because he's immediately firing off names he hears. So this looks like a combination of expertise and potential.”

However, past announcements could have a downside when it comes to the Senate confirmation of some of President Trump's controversial figures.

“The American people have an appetite, or even a demand, for vandals, but I don't know if they voted to have vandals in their cabinet,” Bartlett said.

He predicted that some nominees “will drop out” during the Senate confirmation process.
