“The Voice” season 11 winner Jason “Sundance” Head is speaking out after he accidentally shot himself in the stomach during a solo camping trip on Friday.
Head detailed the incident in two videos he shared. facebook page He said he was injured Monday when a .22-caliber revolver slipped from his backpack and went off. He said the revolver was kept in a quick-draw holster without a strap.
“I was sure I was going to die,” he said. “It was one of the craziest things that ever happened to me.”
“The revolver slipped out of its case, hit the Jeep door frame on the floor step, and shot me…I reached into my blue jeans pocket to get my phone, but there was already blood in the pocket. ”Head continued.
Mr Head also shared a shocking image of the blood-soaked shirt he was wearing during the accidental shooting.
Realizing there was no one nearby to help, the singer ran across the property and jumped over the fence to get to the highway for help. He said he was devastated after making eye contact with passing motorists, leaving him bloodied and defenseless. Eventually, several good Samaritans stopped and rushed to his aid.
“I also want to thank the people who stopped and helped along Highway 84,” he said. “I don't think I would have made it without you, dude. I was bleeding.”
“He was like an angel from heaven. I've never been so happy to meet someone in my life,” said the singer.
According to USA Today, Head's representative, Trey Newman, confirmed that Head was airlifted to UT Health Tyler Hospital in Texas. He confirmed that the bullet missed a vital organ and lodged in the fatty tissue area of the stomach.

He is currently recuperating at home and has made it clear to his fans that he plans to return to music and resume touring as soon as his health allows.
