Boise State received a bye in the first round.
In the latest edition of the College Football Playoff rankings, the Broncos are projected to win, making them one of the highest-ranked teams among conference champions. mountain westwhich would rank them higher than the Big 12 or AAC champions at that point. The Broncos are close to clinching a spot in the MWC title game against either Colorado State or UNLV, and Boise is well on its way to the playoffs.
The Big 12 needs help elsewhere, too. and BYU If they lose the game to Kansas, the conference champions may not get a first-round bye and may have to travel with one of the big teams that didn't get a bye.
