On Tuesday, Sen. Tommy Tuberville (R-Ala.) appeared on Fox Business Network's “Kudlow” to talk about President-elect Donald Trump's office, including Trump's attorney general nominee Matt Gaetz. He promised that the Senate would take into account the facts surrounding the rumors when scrutinizing cabinet appointments. , and Pete Hegseth, who was appointed Secretary of Defense.
The Alabama Republican addressed the charges that Supreme Court nominees Brett Kavanaugh and Clarence Thomas faced during their confirmation hearings.
“Senator Tuberville, I'm concerned about Matt Gaetz,” host Larry Kudlow said. “And I'm worried about Pete Hegseth. And I'm worried – I know there's going to be opposition, I get that. But I'm especially worried about Gaetz, guilty of 11 years in prison. You know the information about the sentenced felons, right? And his two female prostitute friends, okay? They seem to be the main attackers for Matt Gaetz. I don't know everything there is to know about this. I spent some time with Molly Hemingway, a great journalist, and he wrote about this. But I don't know how much. There's a feeling that a lot of people in the Senate hate Matt Gaetz just because he's a hardline conservative who's going to protect Donald Trump from all kinds of nonsensical legislation and weaponization. I don't think they want it. It's just “Russia, Russia, Russia, Russia” and all that garbage. What do you think about that? What does Gates' thing look like? And if something happens, what should I do about it?
“First of all, no matter who President Trump chooses, the media will bash them every day. You know, we've all been around for quite a while, Larry. It makes no difference. If you're a Republican, you have to get through all of this on your own. If you remember Clarence Thomas and Brett Kavanaugh, we look at facts, not rumors. Rumors are circulating here about Matt Gates and Pete Hegseth. After all, they'll all have some kind of rumor. But we have to look at the facts. We have to help President Trump. He's not going to choose criminals. He doesn't mean that. He's going to test everyone – which he did. I look forward to working with all of them. I look forward to supporting them all, as long as the facts are there. ”
