Pollster Nate Silver said in a post on social platform X on Wednesday that President Biden should resign.
“Is there any particular reason to think Biden is capable of being president at this time? It's a very difficult task,” Silver said in the post. “It's a dangerous world. A very high-stakes decision in Ukraine. He should resign and let Mr. Harris serve the final two months.”
Silver's post also included the following screenshot: Report from Washington Post and its links. The report focused on Biden's current relationship with reporters as he prepares to leave the White House. The Post reported that Biden did not spend much time speaking publicly during his recent trip to South America.
Biden has faced questions about his age and mental health throughout his presidency, but they have intensified in recent months, especially after his tough performance in presidential debates against President-elect Trump.
Questions and concerns about Biden's age and mental health ultimately led to Vice President Harris replacing him as the top Democratic candidate. She lost to Trump in just over three months.
Jamal Simmons, a former Harris aide, also recently called for Biden to step down so the vice president could take on the role for a short period of time.
“Joe Biden has been a phenomenal president and he's made a lot of promises. As a man of transition, he has one promise left to make,” Simmons said on CNN's “State of the Union.” ” he said.
“He could resign as president within the next 30 days and make Kamala Harris president of the United States,” he continued.
The Hill has reached out to the White House for comment.
